Newbie to gmkin..Hello :-)

Hello all, complete newbie to gmkin and this blogging malarkey, be kind…

Not really sure how to start this, so here goes…

When you’re asked ‘how are you?’ or ‘all ok with you?’.. It’s easier to answer ‘alls ok’ or ‘not too bad’ Not say how rubbish you feel things really are. Why would anyone be interested or really want to know?

At the beginning of last year I was told I need to have a kidney transplant. A huge head messer for both Lee (my husband) and myself. I didn’t want to share this info with anyone, but have done so with many now.

I have an amazing husband, Lee, who has gone through many tests, and from day one he has always wanted to be my live donor. This is now our reality..he was a suitable match!

Don’t know when this will happen..how long is a piece of string? One thing for sure is, it will have to happen.

So that’s my little introduction so far..

I’ve recently started dialysis , but I’ll keep my babbling of that for another post in the future čÖé

  • Hi Ann welcome to GMKIN You are joining literally now hundreds of members on this most friendly website. If you have questions ask – somebody usually has the answer. Good luck for the future.

  • Hi AnnMcs
So glad you had the courage to tell us your story, or the beginning of it. You are right, when people ask how you are, it’s very difficult to be honest and tell them exactly how grotty you are feeling. It is brilliant though that you have Lee (your partner in crime!) and he is a suitable match wonderful! I am so pleased for you with luck you won’t be on dialysis for very long. Just keep in mind there is light at the end of the tunnel. I wish you luck and look forward to hearing your journey.

  • Hi Ann, I know a little of your story and this blog is a great beginning. You have a very special journey ahead and a wonderful, caring partner in Lee. Can’t wait for the next instalment.
